¿Y la biblioteca? ¿Dónde queda?
The Library?  Where Is It?
If you still don't know, it's time to get with it and find out where your local public library is.  Maybe it's kind of tucked away, without a big lighted sign, and some of them are so quiet inside that you could live next door to a public library for 20 years without even knowing it's there.  So don't feel bad if you don't know where the closest library is.  It's easy to find.  I'll tell you how.
But, why?  What do I want with that big mess of books if I've got a bunch of my own that I've never read, and never will?
Look, nowadays there are lots of people who go to the library all the time even though they never crack open a book!  They borrow videos, leaf through magazines and newspapers, surf the web at the computers.  The library serves them well as a source of free entertainment  And as a place to get in touch with the surrounding area: you can pick up brochures, flyers, maps...
¡A poco! Oh yeah?  I'd always imagined it as like, I don't know, a shrine of learning, a place for serious brainiacs.
¿Tienes libros que nunca has leído? Well, there is that side to it.  If you find a scholarly book that helps with your schoolwork, or an exciting comic book, or a cool movie, you'll see that the library offers a variety of attractions.  You say you have books you've never read?  There at the library are others, in Spanish, and maybe much more appealing.
One thing's for sure: the library has something for everyone in your family.  See, you could go to pick up a video and bring along your spouse, your kids, your grandkids, or your great-grandma--whoever--and just see if they don't find something interesting.
Okay, okay!  You sold me!  So how do we find this treasure chest, then?
Easy.  Open your phone book to the blue pages and look for Libraries in the County and also the City section (if you're lucky, you might have two libraries nearby).  Libraries are also marked on the maps in most phone books.  If you're online, the LA County and City libraries have search pages that allow you to enter your ZIP code to find libraries.  Or if you send me an email message, I'll get you oriented in two shakes of a lamb's tail.  Till next time, then!
