Doing library work
is a real privilege. There's no job on earth like
this one—as
much for its variety as for its exceptional aspects.
For example, unlike most other businesses, we get more
customers in the library the worse the economy gets.

medios que le ayuden hallar y conseguir chamba, o, aún
teniéndola, a afianzarse en los estribos a través de

There's nothing mysterious about this.
A high unemployment rate sends everyone looking for ways
to find and get work. Folks who have jobs
want to secure their spots by picking up new skills.
The library is full of vocational resources that help with
all these aims. |

Job announcements

databases. Your library collects all these and makes
them accessible. |

Many jobs require
you to pass a test or obtain certification of some kind.
Libraries lend out study guides, and nowadays many offer a
new electronic tool called "Learn-a-test.com" that helps
you study for vocational exams and lets you take practice
tests. |

ayuda de libros de la biblioteca, y con sus computadoras
preparar e imprimir los documentos y cartas que quizás
hará destacar tu solicitud. Hablando de la informática,
casi todas nuestras bibliotecas ya proveen clases de
capacitación en el manejo de computadoras y programas
útiles. Algunas de estas clases sí se dan en español. |
You can update
your résumé with the help of library books, and use its
computers to write and print documents and letters that
might help your application stand out. Need computer
skills? Almost all our libraries offer training
classes in using the machines and the software.
Sometimes such classes are available in Spanish. |

librarians fancy themselves job counselors. They're
skilled at finding details about companies and industries
both local and national. They also acquire books and
magazines useful to job seekers, and they know how to find
and size up the latest job announcements. |

The library is worth

use increases in tough times is that it's a great source
of free entertainment with all its videos, books, music,
and other attractions that can lift your spirits. |
